Wailua River kayaking and Secret Falls access

Guests kayaking on the Wailua River

Wailua River kayaking is a freshwater alternative to Kauai's ocean adventures. The familiar kayak-and-waterfall itinerary combines a river paddle with a trail to Uluwehi Falls, also known as Secret Falls, when access is open. The waterfall trail is currently closed, and our Wailua tours are operating paddle-only.

Check access before planning a waterfall visit

Reviewed October 19, 2026: Hawaii State Parks notices state that access beyond the trailhead and to Uluwehi Falls remains closed. Do not treat an older waterfall photograph or the usual tour name as confirmation of access. Our Wailua River tour page carries the current paddle-only notice beside the usual route illustration.

Compare the river outings

Our tour page groups choices by whether lunch is included or you bring your own. Review the departure time, meeting location and the details for your selected outing. The usual itinerary and a temporarily revised river trip can differ, so check the booking description before paying.

Plan your day around the confirmed trip

Allow time for check-in and the drive to the meeting point. Read your confirmation for clothing, footwear, items to bring and participation requirements. If anyone in your party needs help assessing a tour requirement, contact us before reserving. Do not infer suitability from photographs or a general description.

Choose a date and confirm the price

Use Check dates for current availability and the final price of the selected option. Temporary paddle-only fares, where offered, can vary by date and should not be assumed to apply to every departure. Our broader Kauai kayaking guide also includes Hanalei River and Bay options if you would like to compare a different setting.
