We lead you into Kauai’s green valleys to discover waterfalls, forest trails, and places reached with a guide. Walk with us to Bamboo and Papakolea Falls for a hike and swim, or learn the ropes on our waterfall rappel adventure.
For a different view of the island, join our Kīpū Falls & Treehouse Hike. We explore private ranch trails, visit the jungle treehouse, and spend time at the falls. Each adventure has its own pace and participation requirements, so you can choose the outing that fits your group.

Bamboo & Papakolea Falls
Waterfall Hike & Swim
We guide you along a half-mile round-trip trail to two secluded waterfalls. Enjoy the view at Bamboo Falls, then cool off at 60-foot Papakolea Falls, where you can swim and explore behind the falling water when conditions allow.
Our trail includes stream crossings, mud, uneven ground, and a steep return climb. Guests must be able to manage the equivalent of eight flights of stairs.
Bring water shoes, a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, and bug spray. Check in 15 minutes before departure at 3500 Rice Street, Lihue.
Bamboo & Papakolea Falls
Waterfall Rappel
We start with a safety briefing and a practice rappel on a dry training wall. Then we hike to the falls and guide you down 30-foot Bamboo Falls, followed by 60-foot Papakolea Falls. We provide your rappelling gear, shoes, snacks, and drinks.
Rappellers must weigh 70–250 pounds and have a 22–48-inch waist. This is a physically demanding activity on steep, slippery terrain; it is not recommended for guests over 65.
Not suitable during pregnancy or with back, heart, bone or joint problems, or recent surgery. Call us before booking if you are unsure about participation.
Wear clothes that can get wet and muddy, with longer shorts or leggings under your harness. Check in at 3500 Rice Street, Lihue; your confirmation gives the check-in time.
Private Kīpū Ranch
Kīpū Falls & Treehouse Hike
We take you through the lush landscapes of Kīpū Ranch to a jungle treehouse and legendary Kīpū Falls. Take in the valley, hear stories about the area, and enjoy a waterfall swim when conditions allow. We include bottled water and local Hanalima Bakery cookies.
Everyone must be able to walk the full 1.5-mile route independently on uneven, sometimes muddy terrain. Children ages 5–17 must be accompanied by an adult; strollers and carriers cannot be accommodated.
Wear shoes with good tread or sport sandals with heel straps. Bring swimwear, sunscreen, bug spray, and a light jacket.
Check in at Outfitters Kauai headquarters, 230 Kipu Road, Lihue.
